Hi All,

When there is a major update to the system what do you all do?

Do you have to stop your business for two days?

Regards

Mark.

Mark,

Are you referencing an update to the cloud version of Epicor or an on-premise update?  We have moved from E9, E10, Kinetic 2021.1, and earlier this month to Kinetic 2021.2 over the past 3 years.  We are an on-premises instance of Epicor, but the longest upgrade was from E9 to E10, which took the better part of 24 hours.  We do not have an operation that works on Saturday and Sunday, so we use the weekend timeframe for our updates.  The update from K2021.1 to K2021.2, was completed in less than 8 hours, and our data validation was completed in approximately 2 hours.  The actual database and application upgrade occurred overnight, so no impact to any users.  The validation was completed Saturday morning from 8-10am.  In fact we did more validation than was in our plan, so that added another hour to the process, so I did not finish until 11am.  Since we are on-premises and are still using the Classic UI, it took our IT team longer to upgrade the computers in our organization that it did to perform the upgrade and validation.

Version upgrades are done in the weekend 9->10->2021

all the other updates can be done in a afternoon or evening. Does take some time. upgrading the clients is working fine automatically, but does take some time,

Thank you both for your answers, that makes much more sense.
