Thanks Panel for your inputs.  We have the survey results back and the top 5 points are shown below.  PLEASE ELABORATE by adding any words of explanation under any and all points, which may help to inform Epicor of the reasoning behind our choices.  For example, the fourth one, access to a software area champion, is more fully described.  However, the first one; why would it benefit the user community for Epicor Development to take more time between releasing major versions?  And on the last point, known issues list, they do provide what claims to be a Known Issues tab in the PDF release notes.  Is this list inadequate and why?

Thanks in advance!
...Monty.

Allow customer base to keep pace with change - Longer support windows for major versions, More time between major versions.

Provide a one-off fix in some cases - Perhaps a micro-patch, prior patch level, or managed workarounds rather than insisting that a customer upgrade immediately before getting to a fix. Sometimes getting a fix is urgent and upgrades are either in the works or not in the current-year budget.

Listen to the customer - Read every word posted in an open case by the customer. When you feel yourself asking for an online session in the first minute of a call, take a breath and listen again.

Access to a software area champion - This would be a SME within Epicor, in addition to the currently-assigned support person, whose role is to answer brief questions about how the software is supposed to work, to customer and support person alike. Those individuals with years of experience in a specific area of the software such as MRP or GL posting. We've seen this happen informally.

Provide a list of known issues with each update.

Most customers do not have the staffing or resources to keep up with conversion, testing, and implementation of new versions, much less installing a new version on GA. One of the many reasons we didn't upgrade within E9 was due to having a small IT staff, heavy customization to the system, few if any resources for user testing, a comprehensive testing plan, and the desire to not "rock the boat" if things were working as is. Coupled with the fact that you're still dealing with bugs in a new version, this is a REAL headache for most customers.

Monty, I won't be at Insights this year, but I know others in the panel will be. Are you planning on meeting at Insights, and if so, do you have details on that?

Monty,
Has this list been presented to Epicor yet? If so what are the next steps for following up on the requests?
Do you still need us to elaborate on the top five requests?

I have been busy with our E10 upgrade but now I have more time to focus on this cause.

Thanks,
Julie

For clarity, Chris is in charge of Customer Experience and Jason Taylor is the head of Epicor Support.

We need Tim to get a detailed session description up as soon as possible.  Having this as a panel discussion could drive a lot of people to attend the session.

I am concerned that a panel discussion may not lead to Q & A.  Maybe we need microphone runners for the audience to ask questions?
