Unbalanced Entry COS/WIP will not post

We did an RMA for an item that had a job on it.  The job closed at the end of April and the period is closed as April 30 is our year end.  The RMA was done in May but invoicing was done in June.  What was returned was a pair of pants, but theyhad striping - hence the job.  We have 2 seperate line items one for the pants and one for the striping.  The striping should have been done as a miscellaneous line item, because it was not our COS/WIP will not post it it is out of balance the cost of the striping.  How do I fix this? It has not posted since the beginning of June.

Have you checked review journal to see whether the unbalanced journal is there.  If so,  you can cancel it.  But since the transaction is unbalanced you may continue to have trouble with it.  Epicor Support has a data fix that can remove an unbalanced transaction.  You should contact Support and ask them to help.

Or, fix your GL Controls.

Mistakes or oversights in setting up or maintaining GL Controls is the usual cause of these errors.

I’ve had this happen once or twice with the Inspection Module.
If you pull the PartTran table and filter by transaction types related only to inspection, you should identify the root cause.  From their you would need to review your related GL Controls and your Posting Rules if they have been modified.

As mentioned about, you’ll have to use the Review Journal to cancel the JE before rerunning Capture COS/WIP Activity.

And, the review journal includes remarks about the error.  It’s worth a look.

@linsey - How’s it going?
