1 raw material, 1 operation results could be part A or part B

I need some guidance regarding how to manage 2 different parts that are produced from the same raw material and operation.  These are not co-parts, they are not created at the same time.  Sometimes when the process is run we get an A quality product and other times we get a B quality product. Most often our requirements call for the B part, however, we produce more of the A part than the B.  We can use the A in a job the requires the B, but we can not use the B in a job that requires the A. We currently use only 1 part number and the team in inventory, manually tag the product that qualifies as the “A” material. How can we set this up so that we are accurately recording the inventory if we move to 2 part numbers?How do we prevent MRP from requiring more production if we have enough to cover demand, because we can use A in place of B?

Using Color to highlight Dashboard data

  We have a user that needs a Dashboard to display different colors when different conditions are met.For example: If an Item have been on a certain status for 20 days display in Yellow, when it reaches 30days display in Red etc.Anybody has an Idea on how we can go about doing this?I have tried the Rule wizard but, the Highlight option on the New Rule formatting only have one default color and I need to use 3 different colors.

Cannot Assign Payroll Manager (All Companies) to users in Payroll Manager Maintenance

An issue just recently started where we have a few users that previously had the ability to access records in Payroll Employee Maintenance. As of about a week ago, they can no longer access the records in this module. It appears they lost access to the Payroll Manager (All Companies) option in Payroll Manager Maintenance and that control is disabled where we cannot modify it while logged in as a user that has that ability. Any thoughts as to how to re-enable that option?Thanks, JarredP.S. Fixing Part Average Cost

I may be crazy but I am trying to remember if there is a conversion or fix routine to recalculate the average cost for parts.  Many parts have zero average cost due to not being received to stock but rather direct to the job.  Now everything is being received to stock and the costs are messed up.  Is there a way to have the system roll through past receipts and automatically recalculate the average cost?  This is for Kinetic 2021.2.3 in the Cloud so I am thinking if there really is a way it would require Cloud Support.  The incorrect (or missing) average costs are affecting WIP valuation and revenue recognition. Thanks,-Todd C.

PO Suggestions for each demand instance instead of total demand

Is there a setting I need to change to allow Epicor to roll all of the demand into a single New PO Suggestion?  Currently I will get 10 suggestions to order the same part due within the same time frame; I would rather receive a single suggestion that tell me to buy 10 each due at the earliest date. Thank you.

SSRS Report - Invoice Number To Header

I have been fighting an ongoing battle since we updated to E10 in January.For the AR Invoice Form, using the standard E10 ARForm SSRS report as a base, I created a new custom form for our format.  The ARForm uses code in the report to add the invoice number to the page header.  (code.SetVarInvoiceNum function in the Invoice number group header).For invoices that have only 1 page, all is good.  What we encounter is on some that have multiple pages per invoice, the values in the header (invoice number) jump ahead one invoice so things don’t match up.  We get page 3 of the invoice with the correct detail, but the invoice number and invoice date are pulling in the values from the next invoice.  We have to print each invoice individually to get it to print correctly, rather than all the invoices as a batch.  That can take more time if there’s a lot of invoices in the batch/group.Here’s an example.  The 2 values highlighted in yellow are the current invoice (551924).  The values in orange ar

Kinetic Upgrade Downtime for 24/7 Operation

Over this past weekend, the uplift to 2021.2.3 took 18 hours while previously it had only taken 4. Is this length of time normal? We’re a 24/7 operation and being able to plan accordingly is critical.

Updatable Dashboard - How can I update 2 fields in related tables in one Dashboard?

Hi All;I want the updatable dashboard to allow the update to the OrderRel.ReqDate + ProjPhase.DueDate.One notable...our company config is set to allow phase assignment at Release Level.I created an updatable BAQ where I can update the OrderRel.ReqDate.  The ProjPhase.DueDate is a field I can set to update as it’s joined in the BAQ but it doesn’t actually update the value in the database.This is because it only allows one Business Object to be selected.I have seen a couple posts in the past with this but I am not fully following the steps.Has anyone been successful in updating 2 fields from related tables?Thanks in advance for your responses.Patty Buechler

Kinetic Microsoft Office 365 SharePoint Setup

Does anyone have any pointers on getting Sharepoint attachments working in Kinetic Cloud?Our IT company just migrated a bunch of data from our server to the cloud and the server path where we were storing attachments is no longer valid, so no one can add new attachments or view previous attachments.I looked at the help documentation and spent a few hours plugging in every different combination of settings I could think of without success. I put in a ticket and they told me to look at the help documentation……. thanks guys.

Report to capture price increases/decreases for purchased (average cost) parts.

I’ve been asked to identify purchased parts increases/decreases that occurred for current year or previous years.  I think there may be several ways to accomplish this but would appreciate feedback from anyone that has already tackled a similar request.I have reviewed the Supplier Price History report, but I think, unfortunately our purchasing dept has been deleting past pricing instead of Expiring past pricing.I’ve listed some ideas below, but hoping someone has more insight to share:Pull from PartTran table: (but this would not capture any PO’s not received?          Look for PartTran.TranType=ADJ-CST, but because we are average cost this would just show                difference between PO Receipt price vs the Avg cost at the time of receipt.           Or look for PartTran.TranType=PUR-STK, PUR-INS, PUR-MTL, PUR-SUB, PUR-UKN transactions             and compare the prices?Pull from POHeader and PODetail tables to compare historic PO pricing.Thank you,Joy FekkesJaco, Inc

Having trouble with Schedule

Does anyone know why my jobs are running 13 times in this Resource Group?  I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that we have 13 Resources set up in this group. Job completion date question

Hello, We are seeing something I am trying to fogure out a root cause. We will have a job due date of a certain date, but when the job traveler prints, it adds a day, sometimes 2 days to the due date on the traveler. Where can I see the cause of this due date on the traveler? Thanks,Arno

BAQ from BPM to Obtain UoM Conversion Factor

I am trying to follow instructions that Mark Wonsil provided in the EpiUsers forum for a “BPM Widget to run a query and store the result for future use”.  It seems straight forward enough except I am getting caught on one step:screen clipFor the table the drop down does not offer tsQueryExecution.ExecutionParameter as an option.  The closest table is tsDynamicQuery.QueryExecuteSetting.  I did not see any steps for defining the missing table set.Any ideas or examples for proceeding.  Ultimate objective is to get the UoM conversion factor to validate the UoMs on a PO Line so I need to run a query on the UOMConv table.Thanks,-Todd C.Kenetic 11 SaaS

E9 to Kinetic migration

Has anyone here successfully migrated from E9 (9.05.702A) to Kinetic? I’ve been working with Epicor for about a month now trying to migrate the database and continue to get errors. If anyone has completed this type of migration, I would be interested in finding out some information to see if it is worth any more time or if I should just upgrade to E10. Thanks

Using Solution Workbench to Migrate Kinetic Deployed Dashboards and their Custom Layer

Hi we are in the process of testing the new Kinetic 2021.1.12 version of Epicor and have it installed in our test environment. I have created a solution and have turned on solution tracking. I have brought up all our Dashboards in Dashboard Entry and Deployed them by clicking on “Generate Application”. I have edited the form in Application Studio creating a new layer and made changes to it to make look and feel more like it looked in Classic. I have saved these changes and published them.  I then went into Menu Maintenance and changed their menu item to read program type “Kinetic App” and selected the customization layer to the new layer I just saved and published. Now we have upgraded our Pilot account to the new Kinetic 2021.1.12 and I have my solution full of all my changes. I built the solution and imported it into our Pilot account.  When I click on a dashboard I get an error saying “Cannot Connect, Server not available”.  I have to go into Dashboard Entry and deploy it again by c

Scheduling Same Parts in Production

Hello!We have an issue with Scheduling and I’m thinking we can’t be the first company to have this type of problem; we run the same part number on back to back jobs and only need the set up hours on the first job.  The subsequent jobs carry the set up time which we don’t use, and it skews our production schedule.  (These parts are made complete in one operation.) I’m sure we could delete the set up ops on the subsequent jobs during job creation, but was wondering if there was an option in Epicor that would fix this issue without additional steps required of the planners. Thanks!Tracy

10.2.500 Scheduling Question

We currently have our Production calendars setup for certain number of hours during the week but have found that we need to have at least one hour set over the weekend so that subsequent ops schedule correctly.When we run a query on job operations, we see that on closed\completed operations, some jobs are showing "open hours" for those jobs but the hours value is 0. When going to schedule subsequent operations, it looks like the start date \ hour is looking at the next available start date \ hour of that completed op showing open but at 0. If a machine has exceptions to shut off all time for a week or two (machine crash, etc) the subsequent ops are not scheduling until the day that the calendar for that machine is showing available again.Do we have a setting somewhere that is driving this?ThanksMelissa

Issuing reeled components to a job

We are trying to come up with a best practice process with regards to issuing reeled components to a job. If we have a requirement for a reeled component on a job currently will will issue the whole reel quantity to a job, not the required quantity (We currently buy to Job). No we do this so the reel cannot inadvertently get issued to another Job however this also causes us issues if we need to process a material milestone against the WIP quantity. What i need to know is if there are any other users out there that issue reeled components to Jobs and how they do it as i am sure the way it is currently done in STI is not best practice and actually causes us more problems than it solves?  Thanks.

REST to Link Excel to BAQ - BAQ Labels

Hoping for some guidance.We’re in the process of moving to Epicor in the Cloud at which point I’m going to lose access to my Excel SQL Views that are currently linked to the database on Prem.I’ve been advised that i need to use REST to link Excel to Epicor BAQs stored in the cloud to provide similar functionality to my current linked SQL views.I can access the BAQs via REST but am frustrated that the linked data is pulling through the Field names such as Invcdtl.InvoiceNum rather than the BAQ Label from the BAQ that displays in the BAQ preview and the Dashboards.Does anyone know if there is any way to get REST to pull through the Labels rather than the full field names?Sorry if this is a novice question.CheersMartin

Economic Threshold Calculation in Avalara

On 10/1/2021, we went live with Avalara. With the assistance of our Epicor Tax Connect consultant, I imported all invoice transactions  from 1/1/2021 to 9/30/2021.  Our AvaTax home page now shows a map of states where Avalara thinks we close to, or over, Economic Threshold. But, when looking at the details, I see that Avalara is not taking into account tax exempt invoices in SOME states that do NOT count toward Economic Thresholds.Is this a fundamental limitation of Avalara’s ability to accurately compute Economic Nexus?Or is this some effect of how we imported past invoices prior to going live with Avalara?

Re-Ordering based on Expiration Date

Hello, Does Epicor have the ability run MRP on expiration dates?   90% of our product has expiration dates.  While most of the expiration dates are long and can be managed we have several items that have short expirations dates and some products that do not get traditionally consumed and only need replaced when they expire.
