Job that spans sites

Helo,

Throwing this out to the community to see if anyone has done this.

We have a part that has two operations.  The first one is to cut the metal and the second is to wash the part.

The cutting takes place in one plant and the washing in another.  These are setup as sites in Epicor.

I would like to setup one job that accomplishes both operations.  And do a Transfer Order for the WIP.

I get to the point of trying to put labor to the job but it doesn’t show up in the first site.  Only the second.

The backup standard way is to setup one part and then use it as a transfer part for the second FG part.

jobs can only exist in one site. therefore to do what you want, you must have a second job for the second have of the process.

You can either have two different part numbers (one for the cut/unclean part, one for the cleaned part) and transfer the unclean part to the second site for additional work. This is probably the least work/least friction for doing something like this because MRP will automatically create the transfer orders etc.

OR you can have the second site be a make direct requirement for the first site.. in other words, you create a job in the first site to cut the parts, then have an operation that has a make direct requirment in teh second site, which then automatically creates a transfer order for a make direct item. This gets messy, and the transfer order is automatically shipped from site 2 to site 1 without doing the paperwork. Also, in the job, it is hard to tell why you are making the parts in site 2.
