Is there an easy way to lock the MOH field and give access via groups?

Sounds like you need to setup Field Level Security.

+1 to Jay’s idea. You could also use a BPM; there is a widget in there to check security groups.

I would also agree with Jay’s idea. We had people updating payment terms on sales orders and over riding what the customer master copied in. The field security did the trick. It is a little complex to setup so try it in your test environment first.
my only complaint is reporting on it. Took me some work a couple years later to see my settings so some kind of report or BAQ would help.
