Calling users who are currently on Kinetic 2021 or who are testing!

All,

One of hottest topics that our Texas EUG regional group has is are the issues that Kinetic users are experiencing .  Members of our group would like to discuss the current issues in the software, tips/tricks, etc with other users who are having the same issues. I know in a lot of cases when there are bugs, users find workarounds until a fix can be implemented.  A lot of times those workarounds don’t get communicated back to support so this would be a good opportunity to get that information out to those that need it.  I also want to collectively understand what the pain points are and then work with Epicor and our ERP Liaisons to get resolution. 

Is anyone interested in having this roundtable session the week of December 13th?  Shelby Ricketts and I are working through the logistics to ensure a productive meeting.

I have been testing Kinetic cloud for about 3 months here are some of my ongoing issues.

 

Kinetic forms: 

do not display attachments.   

Data view does not return any data.

SSRS break and route:

I cannot send email using senders email to anyone outside my domain.

cannot use custom fields  or any table other than breaking table for meta data in doc star.

We are running Kinetic 2021.1.9, since November 15th, 2021, but are using the Classic screens, as our custom modifications did not migrate to the Kinetic screens.  I have ½ day training in January with a consultant on Application Studio to get me started on modifying the Kinetic screens.  Users that have tested with the Kinetic screens are quite vocal that items that were on the Classic screens are not able to be found on the Kinetic screens.  I have not had time to investigate, if that statement is true or they are just confused where to look in the Kinetic screen to find the data.

We have an issue with our Attachments throughout Epicor Kinetic.  If we saved the attachment with a document type in E10, Epicor is displaying an error that the path is not valid to retrieve the attachment.  If the attachment was saved without a document type, the attachments are found and displayed.  I have tested replacing the document type with <blank> via a DMT, but that did not work.  Only solution I got from Epicor was to write SQL to perform the removal of the document type.  I’m not comfortable writing SQL to directly update data on the server, so I’m hesitant to perform this task.  I have tested Editing the attachment and removing the document type, which does work and allows the attachment to display, however, we have over 4,000 attachments with a document type selected, so this would be a very lengthy task.  Also in my testing I have found that if you remove the document type, then re-add it, the document is copied to the default folder identified in the Attachment Type Maintenance screen, BASE URI field.  This is an issue for us, as we separate our documents by the department that created the attachment.  Performing the re-add, places the document into the BASE URI folder, which is not as clean in our world.

We are also investigating ECM (formerly DocStar) so I am interested in the issues people are encountering with this product and Kinetic.

We are Cloud, so we are on 2021.2.7 (production upgraded this weekend). We are using a mix of kinetic and classic screens.  We are testing each app we use before converting to kinetic. We’ve converted 43% and have another 14% on hold due to issues ranging from bugs, limitations with app studio/customizations, and missing features that we haven’t decided how to address yet (change process or add more customizations). Because we’re cloud and on a regular update schedule with only 4 weeks to prepare before each major release, we are hesitant to add customizations that aren’t critical. 

We would be interested in discussing kinetic more with other users. I’ll reach out by email as well.

I’ll be traveling on Monday, but if there’s a remote-connection opportunity I would like to be in on this conversation.  Just in the past day here, there’s a thread from someone trying to make paste-insert journal entries work.  I keep seeing little areas like this that aren’t quite ready for prime time, that can make a big difference to live system success.  Thanks for organizing this!
