Is there anyone using Lower Level Serial Matching without documenting it on paper.
We are about to launch a product line with lower level serial matchine required for tracability, and we are also pushing for a paperless environment.

We have a number of instances where a manufactured serial tracked part is a component of another serial tracked part that we match, its an extra step for production but isnt onerous, I think its 3 clicks including scanning the lower level serial number. Its a real pain to do it retrospectively :-) . Its only for internal traceability, we don’t print reports nor is it on delivery notes etc, the lower level part has a serial label but the customer wont be able to see it. Serial Number Tracker is normally sufficient to find the info we’re after. We planned to do this but the driver to implement was certification requirements.

Yes they do, the material part has been issued & they scan in the serial of the lower level part into the matching screen. As mentioned its just a few clicks, we set it up a while ago & after some teething issues, mainly users not doing it :-), its been fine so I’ve forgotten exactly what we do !
