New Part Master - Auto Create

Hi EUG;

We have a new company/warehouse and want to start from scratch in creating the Part Master. 

We do not own the license for DMT but got creative in created an Updatable Dashboard for the key fields in the Part Master using the excel import function.  I tested it in a pilot environment, and it seamed to work.  It created a handful of parts which also auto created the PartPlant and the PartWhse.  I think we are either going to do Qty Adjust or Cycle Count to establish On Hand Balances in the respective Bins.  

Any suggestions or things to look for? 

What have other companies used (not using the DMT) to create Part Master records?

If you have service connect you could create workflows to load your data.

If this is a new company/warehouse and you’re bringing across the parts master from another Epicor company you could use the functionality built into Epicor ERP to sync the parts across companies. There are benefits with this if you want 1 consistent Parts master which automatically updates other companies with any changes/updates.

The multi-company setup can also be configured to prevent company B making changes to parts ‘owned’ by Company A (and vice-versa). This can be done at field level. e.g. Company B can only change the part description.
