Physical cycle count won't post

We are using Epicor 10.2.600.

We have completed our physical count and returned all tags. we have entered discrepancy reasons where required.

When we try to post the count, nothing posts and we don’t even get a logfile created.

we get the below two error messages:

As there is no logfile there is no information about the parts that are causing a problem. We have c. 2,700 parts so it’s not practical to review every single one.

It’s as if the application can’t get past whatever it does it initialise the posting process and just falls over.

Epicor support have been looking at this for a while without being able to identify the issue.

Anyone have any similar experience or know how to troubleshoot the application to find the point of failure?

The quickest way to find the offending part would be to generate stock status report for that date and put it in excel. Then do the same for all the tags entered and bring them in excel. Then compare manually using Vlookup to see which part counted more than what you have in hand.

Once you know that you can check the FIFO buckets.

Before you do the above, you should try the very first part if all parts are sorted in ascending order. I think Epicor goes in that order. Chances are the very first part that either has stock or is counted is the problem one.

By “it’s not creating a log file”  Do you mean when you look in system monitor or when you click details on the above errors?

normally, when we have run the posting process we enter the name for a logfile. the file is then visible after the posting and shows any parts that haven’t been posted and the reason why. this is the file that isn’t being created.

Also, when Epicor support tried to replicate the issue they stated that the posting process doesn’t show in the system monitor.
