We are receiving a battery which is a common commodity and we buy it off the shelf. It has a 2D barcode that contains the serial number inside a 48 character string.
Is there any way to get Epicor to exceed the 40 character serial number limit and read in the 48 characters?
And can I get the Serial Number Mask to accommodate stripping a portion of the 48 character string?
If you’re going to strip off the unwanted characters, would that take the serial number down to the 40 character max? If so, add a text box for scanning, once the barcode is scanned, strip off what you don’t need, then put the resulting value into the real serial # field and you’ll be set.
Otherwise, no “supported” way to increase the field size. You’d have to use a UD field and submit an enhancement request to increase the regular field’s size.
