At the end of March we are doing our first Physical Inventory as a Kinetic user. We came from 6.1 and only used it to make qty adjustments. We exported QOH for parts into Excel for count sheets.

I can’t seem to find good Help in Kinetic for the process of counting what is in Warehouses.

Also, a big issue for us is trying to take the WIP which is at actual cost (variances and all) and force in back down to standard cost.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Physical inventory and cycle counts are a huge weak spot for Kinetic. At Insights there have been a number of user presentations on work arounds. We used to use the cycle count functionality, but it was too onerous, so now keep track of it outside of Kinetic and through dashboards. It is likely that you will want to control your count using some variation on your old method.

Physical Inventory (and Cycle Counting) uses the same basic processes… it is very controlled, and if you do not follow the process, you will have challenges. You should be able to find information in the help files as well as on Epicor Education in EpicWeb..

I have taught the subject multiple times at Insights, as well as at User Group meetings and individual customers. When done properly, it can be used to create a very solid process of validating your inventory.

Here is a chart of all the pieces and what needs to be done for Cycle Counting. Note that Physical Inventory is basically a “big cycle count” in that instead of only selecting part of your warehouse, you select ALL the parts from your warehouse.

Hi Joe, Tim always has the best answers!  Attached is our PHY Inventory process in hopes it will help you with the first part of your question.

Hi Tim,

Are any of those trainings available as a recording by chance?
