Auto Receive Intercompany Shipments

Does anyone have a BPM they use to automatically create receipts for intercompany shipments immediately after shipment that would be willing to share how they set it up? We worked with a consultant today because our finance department is dictating we can’t ship at the end of the month to our other entities because if the receival happens in the next month, the books don’t balance. That does not make very good business sense especially when transit time can be up to 5 days. The consultant told us one of the best practices she has seen was companies writing BPM’s that upon shipment, the intercompany receipt it immediately completed and received into a holding warehouse until the product gets to the location. I was hoping someone on here would be willing to share what they have done to get this to work. I am new to writing BPM’s and can’t wrap my head around how to get this written. I am assuming it would take some code that I do not know how to write. If its too big of an ask, we can alw

Creating a BAQ to compare warehouse on hand balance with site balance

I have a BAQ that displays all partnum, warehouse, and bin and current on hand balance if it is below 0. It is our negative balance report. I want to add a column that displays the total site quantity so the user can easily see if we are actually negative or if the inventory is just in the wrong warehouse.  I cannot figure out how to get it to work to sum the site quantity and add that as an additional column into the original BAQ. Has anyone done something similar that can provide me some instruction? We are running the most recent version Kinetic 2022.2.

Equipment Downtime

We have the maintenance module and it appears that the downtime function applies to the employee and not the equipment. If you use downtime you basically lock out that employee until it is done and that is hardly ever the real world case. Does anyone have any best practices for capturing machine downtime they are currently using that they wouldn’t mind sharing? I would want to capture both production equipment and non production equipment such as forklifts.

Equipment Transfer Between Sites & Companies

We are a multi site and multi company setup and we are in the cloud so we are on the most recent version. We are slowly working to implement the maintenance module and are working on equipment records. Is there a good way to transfer equipment between sites and companies? Or do you have to basically inactivate one record and create a new one in the right place? I noticed this question was asked over 4 years ago and was hoping someone might have a more recent answer. If we are moving to a different company we can re-use the ID which we make the asset number, but if its a different site, now we have to come up with a new unique ID which means we can’t have them be asset numbers.  Anyone have any good processes around this they are willing to share?

Add Receive Time to Time Phase Inquiry Details

I have a request to add the receive time to Time Phased Inquiry so that they can view it along with the lead time. I know how to add a UD field and text box to the area but I don’t know how to have it pull in the Receive Time from part maintenance. I know it is fairly simple but can’t figure out how to do it in classic epicor. We are on version 2022.1 but are not using kinetic yet.

Third party Epicor Partners for Report/Customization Writing

Has anyone used Veits Group or Encompass for Epicor customization or report writing? We are looking for external resources to help offload some work along with possibly providing additional training if needed for our internal resources on these topics. Anyone have any good or bad experiences?

How to put a part's components back into inventory

We have crates that are assembled and often times we end up needing to disassemble them and put the re-usable parts back into inventory. I cannot figure out how to do this. We don’t want to have to go back to the original job that created the crate in the first place as we don’t always know what job that was. Basically part A is made from B and C. How do I take A out of inventory and put B and C back into inventory without just doing quantity adjustments? There has to be a better way to capture this work.

What is the benefit of warehouse zones?

When we went live, we decided to only set up several warehouses in each facility and each warehouse only had 1 bin. This was a huge improvement from our legacy system where each facility was only 1 warehouse. Cycle counting was a mess if you can imagine. We are ready to make the next step of creating multiple bins in each warehouse for better material traceability. We ran across Warehouse Zones in this process.I’m curious who uses warehouse zones and what is the benefit. Right now I can’t see to find how they would be helpful. Our bins are mainly in production areas so we aren’t shipping product from any of them.  If there isn’t a good reason to use them, I would rather not set them up and have to maintain them.

Missing Serial Numbers

Wondering if anyone else has this issue or knows what we may be doing to be causing it: We went live a year ago and since the beginning, we have been running into serial number issues all the time.we run into issues where we have more on hand inventory than we have serial numbers in inventory. We end up needing to create dummy serial numbers in serial number maintenance to adjust them off. But how did the inventory get on there in the first place without a serial number? The parts were correct at the last cycle count. I am wondering that if something is happening during transfer order shipments/receivals, inventory moves, or intercompany shipment/receivals that the serial number statuses are changing and not following the inventory? Just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. This is really frustrating and we are spending hours almost everyday tracking down parts and serial numbers and making corrections.

BOM Cost Dashboard

I am struggling with how Epicor is calculating costs. It appears that the costs in part tracker are incorrect because we have issues on job reporting accuracy. We want to be able to pull a list of manufactured parts with the rolled up BOM Cost but I can’t find a table or field that would provide me with this information. I know I can pull the BOM cost report, but I would like a BAQ where I could pull all my manufactured parts at once and just get the final total. The BOM Cost report isn’t in the best workable format.

Dual Sourcing parts by set requirements

Is it possible in Epicor to have PO suggestions change supplier based on a certain rule or requirement? We dual source some parts between suppliers and right now Epicor always suggests buying from the primary supplier. We would like to have it suggest one or the other based on some sort of rule. A rule example would be order every other month from Supplier A vs Supplier B, or order 40% from Supplier A and 60% from supplier B or every other order from Supplier A vs Supplier B. We are open to setting a rule that works within the system. We don’t have a set standard yet, other than we know we need the capability for Epicor to suggest orders from different suppliers so we aren’t always ordering from the same one.

BAQ to Match Part Whse and Part Plant

I am new to BAQ’s and banging my head against the wall. I am trying to create a simple BAQ that shows the On Hand Inventory for all our parts. I need the fields Company, Plant, Warehouse, PartNum, Part Descr, BuyerID, PersonID, and On Hand Qty. I know I need the PartWhse, PartPlant, and Part tables to accomplish this but I can’t figure out how to properly join the PartWhse and PartPlant tables. Any advice on how to make this happen? Any way  have tried has either ended up with all my warehouses showing up in all my plants (which isn’t possible) or only showing my primary warehouses and not the others. I feel like it shouldn’t be this difficult and I am just missing some simple piece.

MES Current Work by Resource

Has anybody figured out a good way to show how many jobs are ready to be worked on by resource or resource group? For example, is there a way to build a BAQ that would display what is showing in my MES Current Work tab? We are struggling to see where in the Bill of Operations the jobs are currently at.  Ideally, the user is looking to use Epicor Data Discovery to see a bar chart of all his resource groups and the # of jobs they have in current work over a time period.

Supplier Price Increase What if Scenarios

Does anyone have a report or way to do a what if scenario for finished good cost changes due to possible supplier price increases? We are looking for a way to plug in a price increase for a purchased part and run a what if scenario through all the top level BOM’s that part goes into so that we can justify our sales price increase with our customers during contract negotiations. We want to easily be able to compare the current cost to produce the top level with the future cost if the purchase part price increased. We know we can use the opportunity/quote entry to manipulate it material by material but that means doing it manually one by one for every top level part we have that we sell to that customer. We would like to plug in the purchase part price change once and have it applied to all the top levels that part is used in for comparison.
