Classic (WinForms) vs Kinetic: Features Dropped?

Now that so many companies have tried transitioning to the new (Kinetic UI) screens from the old Classic (WinForms) screens, in what areas have you noticed that features have been dropped in the new screens, compared to the old?  In one of my company’s open cases, there’s a List view screen that doesn’t accept sequence numbers greater than 9999, when a paste-insert is being processed, but allowed them when hand-keyed.  That occurs in Issue Material BTW.  Because the cause is a WinForms format, I thought to work around the issue by using the Kinetic screen.  But no import or paste-insert feature has been implemented in this screen, and according to Epicor Support, it was omitted purposely.This leads us to wonder: where else is this happening?  Did Epicor include in any release notes that some of the features of a WinForms screen were omitted from the new screens?Please reply if you've found anything similar.Thanks,..Monty.

When Does Epicor Auto-close Order Lines?

K22.1 Classic screens, multi-plant, multi-company.I’ve seen many posts, searching here, about the logic Epicor uses to close sales order lines.  But way more questions than answers.  Would someone please tell me, when does the sales order line record (OrderDtl) get closed, as designed by Epicor?When shipped? When invoiced? When the invoice gets paid? After close of business following any of the above?Thanks,...Monty.

GL Journal Not Defaulting To Main Book

K22.1,  multi-company, multi-plant, classic screensIn company 2901, there are two books: Master (the Main Book) and INTCONSO.  When we go into Journal Entry (GL Journal Entry) and click the New icon to create a group, the Book that appears is INTCONSO.  We expect this program to default to the Main Book, Master, to avoid confusing the personnel entering the journal entries.  Does anyone know what can cause this?  Thanks!

Returning Time As String In A BAQ

K22.1 on classic screens.Because the Part Transaction History Tracker displays SysTime as an integer when it’s un-hidden from the grid, I’ve been asked to provide the transaction times in normal format.Everything I’ve seen posted here and elsewhere in the user community, says to use the built in SQL function CONVERT; and specifically the documentation within calculated field builder says, when I click the TimeToString tool: convert(varchar, , 108) and the PartTran.SysTime field would go between the commas.  But the integer still appears in the BAQ designer, whether I format the display field as string or {time} it still shows incorrectly.As of today, the EpicCare knowledge base article “13. How to convert time to HH:MM:SS format.” has two possibilities, one of which is the same type of CONVERT:  CONVERT( NVARCHAR(8), HDCase.LastUpdatedTime, 114) which has the same problem: it displays the integer number rather than a time value like 8:12:17 AM.Their other option is a formula that fortu

What Makes PO Suggestions Not Be Deleted By Regenerative?

K22.1 Multi-company, multi-plant.We run Generate PO Suggestions on a schedule, regenerative.  But we notice there are ten records in SugPoDtl that are still there with create dates in the past, some of them months ago. What can make a PO suggestion record stick around and NOT be deleted by the next Generate PO Suggestions run? Thanks!……...Monty.

What User Manual For Purchase Planning?

K2022.1 Multi-company, Multi-site, classic screens.In what Epicor manual can I find a method for deriving the part planning numbers for purchased items, in order to have the most accurately timed PO suggestions?  These parameters include:Min, max, safety, Re-Order to Max Min Order Qty Lead Time (can be overridden in Supplier Price List) Planning Time Fence, Reschedule Out Delta, Reschedule In Delta Multiple, Min Lot Size, Max Lot Size, Days of Supply Start Min Lot Qty Lead Time (again?) Can We Make Epicor Post AR Bank Deposits In Summary

2022.1 Epicor Kinetic with Classic screens, multi-company, multi-plant.Our head of Finance for USA is asking about how Epicor processes cash receipt groups.   When we make a bank deposit, she wants the posting to be a single sum of money, to make it easier to process the bank statement.  But instead it’s getting posted as all the individual payments we’re processing.  I’ve found a couple of posts here on the EUG with the same complaint, many years ago, but no one had a solution to make the system post the sum instead of the individual components.Please share any solutions or workarounds you’ve found for dealing with this.Thanks much...Monty.

Multiple Customizations In Menu

K2022.1.33 with Classic Screens Epicor Kinetic has started changing the customization level of all occurrences of an Epicor screen, when we update any one of them.  For example, I change the customization of the Order Entry in Sales Management / Order Management / General Operations, and it also changes the other occurrences of Order Entry in the menu.  First of all, HUGE time saver vs. the old method of finding all the occurrences and changing each one.  But if I have a group of people who still need the old screen, how can I change the customization level of one without changing them all?  Thanks!

"No Matching Constructor Found" Error on Data Directive

I just had a weird thing happen and I’m not finding the error message; maybe I’m the first ever to see it?  Attempting to save a data directive, I get this message:No matching constructor found on type 'System.String'. You can use the Arguments or FactoryMethod directives to construct this type.It turned out that in an embedded query, I had a table criterion that a field must be “IN” a value list, and one of the listed values was left blank.  I deleted it and the directive saved with no issue.HTH

AP Invoice Discrepancy With Transfer Orders

K22.1 Multicompany, multiplant, classic screens.Has anyone seen an issue where intercompany transfer orders, when the AP invoice gets auto-generated by Epicor, the Line Amounts do not agree with the Total on the invoice?  As a workaround, we tried adding a line to the invoice, but then the total shows double the correct amount.  The only workaround we’ve found is to delete the auto-generated invoice and re-enter it. Thanks

Updatable Dashboard - Act On Multiple Selected Rows

2022.1.9, Classic WinForms screens, multi-company, multi-plant. I’m building an updatable dashboard for the PartAlloc table, and I need to assign an entered value to a field in multiple rows depending on the user selection.  I’d like to make a customization with a field tied to a BPM data field (if that can be accessed from the C# code) and install an “Assign” button.  When the user clicks the button, the value in the box gets assigned to a field of all selected records in the grid.My second choice would be to label one of the unused Y/N columns “select start” and another one “select end” and when the user clicks the button, assign the value to the field of all records between these two inclusive.   But it would be more intuitive for a Windows user who already knows how to select multiple rows of a grid, to be able to act on the selection.Can someone advise me on the code to put in the click handler?Thanks..Monty.Ps. Input String Was Not In A Correct Format (UserCodes or UDCodes) Autonumbering

If you’re working with UserCodes (also called UDCodes) and you’re getting the “input string was not in a correct format” when you explicitly specify the Code ID field, make sure your UD Code Type is not set to autonumber. Autonumbering is a great feature as far as it goes, but if you change your mind and start putting alphanumeric code IDs in the database, the next time you try to create a UDCodes record, Epicor attempts to auto-number and throws the error when it assumes purely numeric Code IDs are in use.HTHMonty.

Why No Invoice Number In RcvDtl Record?

K22.1 Multi-company, multi-plant. The field help on RcvDtl.Invoiced and RcvDtl.InvoiceNum implies that during AP invoicing, these two fields should be loaded coherently with each other.  That is, if a receipt line has Invoiced checked, then there is an InvoiceNum value that gets loaded at the same time.  But in our system, a small number of invoiced receipt lines still have a blank invoice number showing.  In PO Tracker, you can go to the Lines / Invoice Activity and get the invoice numbers that way, and we don’t see anything suspicious about them.Does anyone know why after AP invoicing, the RcvDtl.InvoiceNum field would be blank? PS. I found KB article KB0104206 which describes the issue, and offers a SQL data fix, but nothing on the root cause.Thanks,..Monty.

K22.1 Multi-company, multi-plant, fiscal year not aligned with calendar year In a BAQ, given a GL account number, I need to find the current account balance.  I’ve been searching; does anyone have a short cut?  It appears to me that a nice decimal number in a table entry for the account, does not exist. Thanks,..Monty.

Please Help With OrderAlloc Adapter

I’m having trouble finding any documentation or postings of OrderAllocData, and what exactly is supposed to be contained within the search results. I’m looking in the REST v2 API help (Swagger) and I don’t see anything in there. Fulfillment Workbench: Reduced Quantity

K2022.1It appears that Fulfillment Workbench only allows an “all or nothing” approach to order line fulfillment.  Sometimes we want to ship a line as partial, and would like to reduce the picking quantity to match what we actually found in the bin, and unreserve/unallocate (actually unpick) the remainder. Has anyone found a way?

uBAQ Transaction Scope Erroring Out Due To No .NET 6

If you have a BPM which includes CreateDefaultTransactionScope(), and you’re running Kinetic 2022.1.1 or after, you may see this error:The type 'TransactionScope' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Transactions.Local'Then when you dutifully click Assembly References, you’ll find there’s no such thing as the one Epicor is telling you to add!  It turns out you can just download the .NET 6 runtime, install it, restart Kinetic, and you’re back to developing!HTH...Monty.

Unpick Sales Order: Avail Qty Stuck At Zero?

K22.1We need to reduce picked quantities of some items in the PartAlloc table. This happens when an inventory error occurs and we ship-partial an order line, and yes we are investigating root causes of why the inventory count was in error.The issues are two: (1) Fulfillment Workbench doesn’t seem to have any facility to reduce picking quantities below those numbers in the O/L/R. And (2) the one I’m asking about today, in Unpick Sales Order (in the AMM menu) the Avail Qty seems to be zero even when we have plenty of stock on hand, and I can clearly see picking quantities exist in the PartAlloc table.Has anyone dealt with this issue, or have any idea why my Avail Qty in Unpick Sales Order would be stuck at zero? It errors-out and won’t let me unpick if I try to enter a value anyway.Thanks…Monty.

User Runs BAQ Via Dashboard And Exits Before It Finishes

K22.1, most users using classic screens We have a BAQ that, if users forget to enter a part number, can return millions of records and we believe a user may have done this, and force-terminated the smart client due to it taking so long.  Perhaps the same person would log in again, and try it again.We are already taking steps to change the query so it won’t run without a part number specified.  My question is, in the situation described, how long would the BAQ continue to run, consuming server resources, after the user’s session was forcibly terminated?Thanks much,..Monty.

Part Allocation Records After Shipment

Kinetic 22.1 I’m looking at PartAlloc records, and I see records that are Demand Type Order, with either a Picked quantity or a Picking quantity.  In one example I looked up, the order line has shipped complete.  I thought that would remove the PartAlloc record but it is still there, and I see no indication that it has been consumed.  Does Epicor mark these PartAlloc records in any way, once they’ve been consumed? Thank you,..Monty.Monty WilsonVice President – North AmericaEpicor Users GroupMonty.Wilson@EpicorUsers.org713-303-3268

Application help from Kinetic home page

I’ve noticed, as of K22, the Application Help from E10 is now titled Classic User Interface Help and now that I’m using the Kinetic Home Page I have discovered how to access that content. When I attempted to access it online at https://help.epicor.com/erp/102700/enu/standard/snm_enu.htm?Version=3.2.700.0 it lands OK but when I click any content, I get the “Unable to Load Online Help” message saying it requires an active Epicor ERP session.  I happen to have one, but it’s not recognized unless it’s launched from within the application.  So THAT lil loophole’s been closed. But at the bottom of that error message is the suggestion to press F1 in the application, and that still works.  So from the Kinetic home page, if you’ll press F1, there’s the ole Classic UI help, as semi-searchable as ever, arranged nicely in parallel with the K22 menus, in addition to all the huge number of other help features! HTH...Monty.VP North AmericaEpicor Users Group
