Time Phase Inquiry - Definition of Terms

Our Supply Chain team has been completely replaced over the last 12-18 months.  They are stuggeling with some of the concepts within the Time Phase screen and how to interpret what the data and screen is telling them.Some background on Part A, which is a Purchased Part:InventoryMin. O/H = 0   Max. O/H = 0   Safety Stock = 27,005  Min. Order Qty = 4,000  Lead Time = 98 daysManufacturingMin. Lot Size = 60,000  Max. Lot Size = 0  Lot Multiple = 15Time Phase, is telling us to expedite an existing PO for a quantity of 40,000, which I agree with and can explain to the Supply Chain.Later on, I see a “Suggestion for Warehouse XX” with a receipt quantity of 60,000.  I’m guessing the quantity is being triggered by the Mfg. Min. Lot Size of 60,000.  Time Phase is telling us to pull from another warehouse, this quantity of 60,000.  I believe the Procurement team is reading this as a PO Suggestion to order 60,000, even though this is a Purchased part, but someone has entered data into the Manufactu

Overview of Manufacturing Variance - Can anyone help??

We have found a number of manufacturing jobs from 2021 & 2022, which have not been closed.  I’ve analyzed the data and a large number of the jobs have a variance between the Estimated time and Actual time spent on the job.My question is:The labour rate in 2021 was $23.35 per hour for each employee.  The labour rate in 2023 is $67.66 per hour for each employee.  When the job is Closed and the manufacturing variance is calculated, what are the comparisons that Epicor does to determine the variance?  Does Epicor compare the 2021 labour rate to the current labour rate on the resource group or employee record and calculate the variance dollars based on the delta between the rates, or does Epicor continue to use the 2021 rate and compare to the amount of labour on the Part Cost record to determine the variance? Note, we calculate our Standard Cost in January of each year, so the labour amount on the Part Cost record today, will reflect the current year standard cost, which would be built

Sub-Contract Operation -Auto create an A/P Credit Memo

We perform an Outsource Operation within a job, which we link to a Purchase Order.We perform the Sub-Contract shipment process to move the item from our facility to the Outsource Vendor, creating the Mfg-Ven transaction within Epicor, so Epicor knows the item is no longer within our facility.Our plant is in North America and the Outsource Vendor is in Europe, so it takes a few days for the item to arrive at the Vendor.  The vendor then performs the work, and ships the item back to us.  This process can take upto 3 months roundtrip.  We would like to be able to decrease our WIP inventory while the item is not within our facility.Is there a way to link a G/L Control to the Mfg-Ven inventory transaction type, so we could move the standard cost of the item out of WIP and into a ‘Holding Account’, while the item is outside our facility?The offset would be the PUR-SUB transaction, when the item is received in Epicor, have the standard cost of the item move back into WIP from the ‘Holding Acc

Job Tracker Serial Number Retrieval - Where does data come from?

We have manufacturing jobs that spawn what we call “R” jobs, which we use to track Non-Conformance issues with our manufacturing process.I’m trying to create a BAQ to identify how many times a manufactured item (we use serial number tracking of all manufactured items), has been sent to a “R” job.  When I pull up an “R” job via Job Tracker, I can see the serial number of manufactured item listed under the Serial Numbers tab.My question is; Where does the information displayed on the Serial Numbers tab of Job Tracker come from?  If I can find the source of this data, I think I can create my BAQ to display the information I am looking to capture.Job Tracker Screen:Job number is R3189, and s/n 1534 was the material to the job and the output of the jobSerial Number Tracker:Current job number is 323210, but I need to know that s/n 1534 actually went to job R3189 to fix a non-conformance issue.Any assistance with identifying how Job Tracker is able to display the associated serial number with

What is the Shelf Life field on the Part record used for?

We are trying to find information on the Shelf Life field on the Part Record.  This field is only 3-digits in length, so you are restricted to a maximum of 999 days.  What is this information used for and where is it used?We have some metal parts that have a shelf life of 10-years, according to our supplier, but we are restricted to a maximum of 999 days within this field.  If it is not used within Epicor, why is it on the Part record?If the item is Lot Tracked / Controlled, then having a Lot Expiry date on the Lot record, makes sense, and adds to the confusion of the Shelf Life field on the Part record.Any insight you might have would be appreciated.Thanks

Move Stock to Non Nettable location and remove stock value from G/L

We have components within our raw material inventory that are no longer used within our manufacturing process.  In simple terms, these items are obsolete.We want to move the items from our main warehouse to a non nettable location in the same warehouse or a different warehouse.  We will be using the Inventory Transfer process to move the items, but we would also like the value of those items to be removed from our raw material G/L account.We cannot physically scrap or trash these items, as they may be required within our Repair group in the future.Has anyone done something similar or can anyone provide suggestions on how we can accomplish this?Thanks.

Fixed Asset Import to Kinetic - Has Anyone Done This??

We are attempting to load our MS-Access Fixed Asset database information into Kinetic.Has anyone loaded the Fixed Assets module with data from an outside source?  If so, did you use the DMT process or the Fixed Assets Import process?What are the pros / cons of each method?Is one process preferred over the other or is one process better to use?Thanks.

Debate on Manufacturing Labour Variance

We are having issues with the definition and calculations of Manufacturing Variance, so I am asking the group how they define Manufacturing Variance.In the Red corner, we have a person building PowerBI reports, taking the Actual Job Operation hours and comparing them to the Estimated Job Operation hours.  They take the delta and multiply this value by our fully burdened labor rate.  {(Actual Job Hours - Estimated Job Hours) * Fully burdened labor rate}A positive value indicates the actual labor hours booked, is greater than the estimated labor hours.A negative value indicates the actual labor hours booked is less than the estimated labor hours.The individual is sharing these reports with the management team and has titled the report Labor Variance.In the Blue corner, we have the CFO reporting on the G/L balances for Labor Variance.  Unfortunately, we are dumping variances for labor, labor burden, material, material burden, rework, and some PPV into our Manufacturing Variance account, s

Sort Order of the Job Pick List

Does anyone know how the Job Pick List is sorted?  Engineering have added new parts to the pick list for one of our manufactured items.  These new parts are being displayed at the end of the pick list, but they would like them to display in part number order, which would insert the new items higher up on the pick list document.Any thoughts?Thanks.

MFG operation step duration is longer than estimated - How do you handle?

We are looking to see how other manufacturing organizations, using Epicor, handle operation steps that take more time than allocated.Can you provide some insight as to how you handle the following within your manufacturing organization:When an operation step takes longer than what is entered as the estimated duration, how is the operator notified? When an operation step takes longer than what is entered as the estimated duration, is there a notification sent to a production team leader / production manager via email? How do organizations investigate the reason for the over-run, in as close to real time as possible, as a notification will need to be raised immediately? Do organizations use an amount or percentage of allowable over-run duration, before notification of over-run?Thank you for any insight you can provide.

Raw Materials - Prototype Build

We are dealing with raw material lead times that have gone from less than 2 months to a year +.  We have a new item we are working on for a customer, and are in the process of building a prototype of the item.  We would like our MRP/MPS process to pick up the new raw material requirements, but we do not have a full parts list from Engineering yet.  Since the lead times have ballooned in the past year for raw materials, we were hoping to get a jump on the planning requirements and get them ordered well ahead of when we will need them.  90% of the required raw materials are currently used on another item we have within our manufacturing processes.  The 10% remaining are the components unique to this prototype.Does anyone know of any modelling scenario or process within Epicor that would be able to help us determine our material requirements for this new item we are working on?  Possibly even a third-party add-in to Epicor would be an option, depending on cost.Thanks.

Job Entry - Purchasing Information (RFQ Needed)

Does anyone know how the checkboxes in Job Entry → Job Details → Materials → Details for Purchase Direct / RFQ Needed work?We are attempting to design a process for Prototyping new items we are being asked to produce.  We were hoping by clicking this checkbox, a notification would be presented (somewhere) that our Purchasing team could act on and send out a RFQ for the required material.Is anyone do this and if so how are you working with the Epicor software to make it work.  We are currently running E10, but are testing this in our new Kinetic environment, so I am hopeful we don’t have something configured properly to make this work.Any insight or thoughts are appreciated.

Epicor 2021.1 Client Installation Issue and Win10

We have 12 computers on our network that are currently running Epicor 10.2.400.9, and the new Kinetic client (2021.1.9).  However, we have 1 computer that does not seem to connect to the new Kinetic environment properly.  When the user runs the Kinetic client, a window pops up, stating the user is trying to connect to the server, and does not display the Kinetic menu screen.  We have uninstalled and reinstalled the Kinetic client several times, but it does not seem to want to work on this 1 PC.Has anyone encountered the same issue and if so, can you provide us with some options to look at in an attempt to get this to work?  I have asked out internal Help Desk, if this individual is running any unique software application that could be the issue, and they have stated no.  The client is basically the same between E10 and E11(Kinetic), so we are at a loss as to how to diagnose this issue.  Overall we have approximately 80 laptop/PCs running Epicor 10.2.400.9, and the project team is appro

Add non-stocked items (consumables) to Bill of Material?

Our engineering team have posed the question, and I can not figure out how to add consumable items to our bill of materials, other than creating the consumable item as an inventory item.  This causes issues with the inventory team, as they do not want to increase the cost of inventoried items.Does anyone have any suggestions or are the consumable items meant to be left out of the bill of materials?Reason engineering was asking, they are trying to get a ‘true’ cost for manufacturing an item, and the consumables are simply absorbed in the overall costs of manufacturing.Thanks,Glenn

MES Customizations & MES Tablet Usage with Kinetics

Looking for insights and information related to the usage of tablets with MES and some specific MES customization.Customization Question: Our Manufacturing Quality team would like to be able to display a “Countdown” timer, which shows the Estimated Operation time less any accumulated actual time for this operation step the user is logged into, through MES.  Once the time gets to 0, it will start counting up, possibly in a different color, to indicate the operation is over the estimated timeframe.  Does any one have anything similar to this, which has been implemented within Epicor?Hardware Question:  I have read other topics which companies have implemented either touch screen or tablets within the manufacturing areas, to make it a little easier for the production workers.  I would be interested to hear which devices have worked within your manufacturing areas, and which devices to stay away from.  We were thinking of having a tablet for each manufacturing individual., which has a barc

Dashboard and BAQ Issue for a Single User

We are on 10.2.400.9 and I have a real head scratcher at the moment.I have a dashboard that lists all Sales Orders on Hold.  I have verified the dashboard is displaying correctly on 4 different users Epicor sessions.  However, I have one user which does not see any data when they run the dashboard.  I had the user sign on at my PC, thinking it was an issue with their PC, but even on my PC, with their sign-on to Epicor, the dashboard displays nothing.  I ran the BAQ behind the dashboard under the users’ Id and the BAQ returned zero records.  When I run the BAQ, I see all of the orders flagged on Hold.  Has anyone encountered this issue, and if so, what was the resolution?  If anyone has any ideas on where or what I should look at to determine a solution, all suggestions will be looked at.  I am stumped at this point.  The user who sees no data is not a new user and has been using this dashboard throughout 2020.

Epicor 9 - Bank Electronic Interfaces

We currently deal with 2 different banks to handle our EFTs and have an Electronic Interface defined for each. We are looking to move all of our EFTs to a single bank and I have been given the file layout we need to follow, in order to interface with the bank.My question is this, the Electronic Interface files to create the bank specific upload file, may need to be modified. I have found the location of the interface file/program which creates the EFT file. The file extension is filename.r. How do I view the contents of this .r file and if required, how do I modify this .r file? With TextPad, I was able to open the .r file, and saw a SQL select statement on the first line of the .r file. TextPad will not allow for modification of the file and other than the SQL statement I saw, the rest of the data within the .r file was unreadable.If anyone has experience with creating / modifying this interface file (.r), your assistance is appreciated. Epicor Asset Management Module - 9.05

I have been asked to investigate how the Epicor Asset management module works, compared to our in-house MS-Access system.In our test environment, I have configured/set up the following: Asset Register Asset Class Asset Group Spread Codes Depreciation Method Then I entered 5 assets.  When I entered the assets, they have a flag beside them which indicates 'new'.  When I perform the post and depreciation calculations, no costs or depreciation is updated on the asset or posted into the G/L.I am wondering if I need the assets to move from a status of 'new' to a status of 'in-use' or whatever the Epicor identification is to allow the depreciation to begin calculating.Any help is appreciated.Thanks.------------------------------Glenn OwersERP Business AnalystSafran Electronics CanadaPeterborough ON705-743-6903 x231------------------------------

Supplier Parts Display from Inspection Processing - E9.05

I have been asked to modify the information displayed on the Supplier Part Cross Reference screen, when accessed from Inspection Processing Entry / PO Receipts tab.  Currently this screen displays all of the Supplier Cross Referenced parts, based on our own internal part number.Our current Qualified Manufacturers Cross Reference table contains a "Lifecycle Status" value, which I have been asked to filter on and display only certain statuses for the parts displayed on the Supplier Part Cross Reference screen.When I bring up the Inspection Processing Entry / PO Receipts screen with Customization turned on, I can see the Supplier Part button is defined or EpiBinding to porView.SupplierBtn.  When I click the button, I am presented with the Process Calling dialogue box which indicationst he following information: Process Key: Epicor.Mfg.UI.SupplierXRefEntry Calling App: Epicor.Mfg.UI.InspectionProcessingEntry Menu ID: I am then presented with the Select Customization screen, which shows n

Adding Menu Items to Favorites (v9.05)

I have a user that is attempting to add items from the menu tree to their Favorites.  Normally this is not difficult as you right click your mouse and the "Add to Favorites" option appears on the screen.However, this particular user, when they right click on the mouse, it launches the menu item.  Initially I thought it had to do with the manner in which the mouse was configured, but when I sign in to Epicor on the same PC and use the same mouse, a right click produces the "Add to Favorites" option on the screen.When the same process is followed when they are signed in to Epicor, a right click launches the menu item.  As per normal, the left click also launches the menu item when they are signed in to Epicor.Is there a setting for the User somewhere that I can modify so their mouse right click button acts normal?Thanks.------------------------------Glenn OwersERP Business AnalystSafran Electronics CanadaPeterborough ON705-743-6903 x231------------------------------

MES - End Activity Screen (Epicor 9.05)

We are attempting to capture data on the number of manufactured items which Pass or Fail our 1st quality inspection process within our manufacturing flow.I have added two numeric fields to the End Activity screen within MES, entitled Pass Qty and Fail Qty.  I would like to verify the quantity entered into the "Completed" field on the End Activity screen, is the sum of the values entered into the Pass/Fail quantity fields.  The formula is {Completed Qty - (Pass Qty + Fail Qty)}.  If the equation results in anything other than 0 (zero), I want an error message to display, which states the quantities entered do not balance / equate to the quantity Completed.Using a In-Transition Data Directive, when the error message displays and the user clicks OK, the End Activity process completes and MES does not allow you to correct the mistake. Originally, I thought I would need to perform the calculation on the actual End Activity screen, using the Customization tools.  I could not get that to work
